Good health & well-being

We advice producers:

- To avoid the use of hazardous chemicals 

- To be aware and avoid air, water and soil pollution and contamination

- To target to use pesticides that are mainly based on biological ingredients

Decent work & economic growth

- Some regions in which avocados are grown are very poor, and means of employment scarce*. We are able to provide quality jobs and generate the need for qualified engineers and farmers

- On the productive side, we encourage our partners to insure their workers and their families under the state-run insurance. This is a very rare case since more than 95% of  agriculture  day workers in Mexico are not insured. 

Industry, innovation & infrastructure

- We advise our clients to become more efficient avocado producers and to apply smart agriculture practices.

- In the near future we want to implement precision agriculture and satellite farming practices

- Our goal is to create a decision support system (DSS) for the management of avocado farms, with the goal of optimizing returns and preserving better natural resources

Responsible consumption & production

- The most important resource in avocado production is water, and it is the most valuable resource in our planet. We apply irrigation systems in our orchards to increase water efficiency. (75% water efficiency vs. 60% of regular irrigation) 

- Rainwater is collected, stored and used in the irrigation system  

Climate action 

Reed estimates that avocados are:

 - Efficient air-cleaners, removing up to 6.42 tons of Carbon Dioxide per hectare per year

 - Producing 11.6 tons of oxygen per hectare per year*

Life on land

- We protect natural reserves 30 ha in the current portfolio and 90 ha in total

- We do not tolerate illegal deforestation

- We promote the implementation of sustainable management
